This meeting was a roundtable discussion between US-Algeria Business Council members and both current and former US ambassadors to Algeria, focusing on the current state and future prospects of US-Algeria business relations across multiple sectors. The ambassadors discussed the strong economic partnership between the two countries, highlighting key developments in energy, defense, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture, while business representatives shared specific challenges they face including regulatory issues, import restrictions, and intellectual property concerns. The discussion covered major projects like Chevron’s non conventional energy initiative with Sonatrach and the Baladna dairy farm project involving 35,000 US cows, as well as defense sector opportunities and the need for greater localization of US companies in Algeria.
The conversation ended with a positive note, encouraging US companies to invest in Algeria, build relationships and play the long game that always produce enormous benefits to US Companies, witnessed by several of our Board member companies such as OXY, LM, NG to name a few.
