Ian Davis is the Vice President of Government Relations for Occidental Petroleum Corporation (Oxy). In this capacity, he oversees Federal and State Government Affairs, and the company’s Political Action Committee (PAC). Oxy is an international energy company with assets primarily in the United States, the Middle East and North Africa.
Prior to joining Occidental in 1999, he was Director of International Government Relations at Fluor Corporation. Before that, Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Government, holding a variety of positions with the Department of Commerce, including Country Desks for Korea, Taiwan and Central Africa; Commercial Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul; Director of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Office; and as a lead negotiator on Taiwan’s accession to the World Trade Organization. He also served as Staff Director for the President’s Export Council’s Subcommittee on Market Access and Trade Negotiations, and he was appointed as a member of the State Department’s Advisory Committee on International Economic Policy.
Mr. Davis has served as Chairman of several bilateral trade organizations, including the U.S.Colombia Business Council, the U.S.-Libya Business Council, and the U.S. Ecuador Business Council, and is the former Chairman of the American Petroleum Institute’s Committee on Federal Relations.
Mr. Davis is a cum laude graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.
