Organization: The United States-Algeria Business Council (USABC)
Description of the USABC:
Founded in 2002, the US-Algeria Business Council (USABC) is one of the most prominent and active bilateral business associations operating in Washington, D.C. It is a membership-driven organization comprised of some of the USA and Algeria’s largest companies and several smaller and middle-sized companies. The USABC’s mission is:
- Promote bilateral business in trade and investments between US and Algerian Companies.
- Facilitate relationship-building and access for US member companies pursuing opportunities in Algeria.
- Create platforms for Algerian businesses to access U.S. made products & services and/or seeking market and technological access in the U.S..
To this end, the USABC facilitates introductions and customized matchmaking initiatives, organizes sector-specific symposia and trade missions, and hosts events featuring U.S. and Algerian officials.
Responsibilities:
- To manage the organization on a day-to-day basis.
- To lead a small team of volunteers and contractors.
- To report to a Board currently consisting of 20 member businesses.
- To manage relationships with relevant governmental officials in Algeria and the USA.
- To organize events viewed as adding value to member businesses’ efforts in Algeria and conversely in the United States.
- To raise money to fund the annual budget, through membership renewals, recruitment of new members, and event sponsorships.
- To act as steward of the organization budget and assets.
Requirements:
- Executive-level management experience
- Strong knowledge of Algerian and American business environment
- Fluency in English Arabic and French
- Satisfactory record in Fundraising for not-for-profit organization(s)
- Strong communication and coalition-building skills (the ability to build trusted cross-cultural relationships).
- Entrepreneurial mind-set
- Master’s degree or equivalent, preferably in Business Administration
- Should be in the Washington DC Metro area.
